Why Recycle

So why recycle your unwanted clothes?

Textile waste is on the increase in the U.K. We in Britain produce 1,000,000 tonnes of textile waste every year and only a small fraction of this is being recycled via charity shops and jumble sales. The rest is simply sent to the overflowing landfills throughout the country.

Recycling facts

We could fill a space the size of Wembley Stadium every year with our discarded clothes.

If everyone in Britain bought one used woollen jumper each year we would save up to 500 tonnes of chemical dyes and a staggering 1.4 trillion (yes trillion) litres of water... every year!

Textile products take up 12% of landfill sites.

The clothing industry in the UK produces over 3 million tonnes of Co2 each year.

... At the Anglo Recycling Company, we can help reduce this.

Your second-hand clothes are sent to Africa.

Cash For Schools

(Bag2School has paid out £25 million to schools so far.)

We work in partnership with Bag2School Ltd in organising clothes collections from schools across the country to help raise funds to enable them to buy essential materials for the benefit of their children. These campaigns also have the added benefit of educating children about the importance of recycling and make them aware of some of the facts surrounding the issue. This helps future generations become more efficient recyclers, helping both this country’s economy and the planet. If you work at a school or know of a school that might benefit from this scheme, contact Bag2School on 01609 780222 and they will organise your collection and provide labelled donation bags for your school. It’s simple. All your school has to do is collect clothes. Many schools now run a collection once a term and are raising thousands of pounds a year. Bag2School pay £400 per tonne and will happily collect as often as you like so storage is never a problem. Bag2School have helped raise over £25 000 000 so far for schools throughout the UK.

Please call on 01609 780 222 or helpdesk@bag2school.com.
